A stolen trailer investigation in La Marque led Galveston County deputies to a Houston home, where SWAT teams seized stolen firearms, vehicles and more than 31 pounds of drugs.
What started as a standard inquiry into a stolen trailer in Galveston County escalated into a significant operation in Houston, officials reported.
On Tuesday, authorities in Galveston County looked into a report regarding a stolen cargo trailer in La Marque. According to Sheriff Jimmy Fullen, the case directed deputies to a residence located in the 7700 block of Furay Road in Houston.
Special Weapons and Tactics teams from Harris and Galveston counties worked together to help investigators carry out a search warrant at the property. Authorities discovered a hidden cache of illegal substances, weapons, and pilfered gear within the premises.
Fullen reported that deputies seized over 31 pounds of marijuana, approximately 15 grams of heroin, two handguns that had been reported stolen, three utility trailers that were also stolen, a cargo trailer, a utility task vehicle, and a generator that was stolen.
The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the case, according to Fullen, and as of Wednesday, no charges have been filed.
The finding underscores how a seemingly isolated theft can reveal a larger network of illicit behavior, Fullen pointed out. “This illustrates the effectiveness of collaboration between agencies and how swiftly information can escalate into more significant cases,” he stated.
Officials have yet to provide details regarding any potential suspects or arrests.
