A major indoor sports facility is coming to the Webster-League City area, with construction on the Hope Center Sportsplex expected to begin in July, according to state filings.
The 65,639-square-foot complex will be built at an estimated cost of $9.5 million and is slated to open by July 2027, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Houston natives Raymond Steward and Shonbay Jones lead the project, aiming to create a regional hub for athletic training and competition.
Developers say the facility will support a wide range of indoor sports, including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and futsal, along with other multi-sport training programs and events.
“At Hope Center Sportsplex, we provide a dynamic indoor environment where athletes of all ages and skill levels can train, compete, and thrive,” the organization said in a statement on its website. “Built with excellence in mind, our facility is designed to support everything from foundational development to elite competition.”
The project marks a significant expansion of the founders’ work through Hope Active, a nonprofit established in 2017 that focuses on supporting at-risk youth and underserved communities in the Houston area. Organizers say the sportsplex will extend that mission by combining athletics with mentorship and community engagement.
“Hope Center Sportsplex is more than a sports facility,” the organization said in a social media statement. “It’s a destination where athletes are developed, families are connected, and leaders are formed.”
Construction is expected to take about one year once work begins. Officials say the facility is designed to meet growing demand for indoor athletic space in the fast-growing suburbs southeast of Houston.
The development reflects broader population growth in the Webster and League City corridor, where new residential and commercial projects continue to expand. Once complete, the sportsplex is expected to host local leagues, tournaments, and training programs, potentially drawing visitors from across the region.
Further details on programming and partnerships have not yet been announced.
