Galveston officials have announced a monthlong amnesty program to address delinquent parking tickets. This initiative enables drivers to settle their citations without incurring late fees before stricter enforcement measures resume.
City officials have announced that the program will be in effect from May 1 to May 29, targeting parking citations issued from January 2007 through April 9, 2026. The Galveston Municipal Court announced that it will waive all late and collection fees for eligible tickets during this period.
According to officials, participants may be able to save up to $312, depending on the specific violation.
City officials are encouraging motorists to take advantage of the limited amnesty window, warning that outstanding citations could result in increased penalties after the period concludes. Authorities may impose further fines or pursue legal repercussions as part of enforcement measures.
Individuals seeking to qualify for the fee waiver are advised to contact the Municipal Court or visit in person prior to submitting any payment. The court is located at 601 54th Street, Suite 300.
Payments are accepted through various methods, including in-person, online, or by mail. However, mailed payments must arrive by 4 p.m. on May 29 to qualify.
The initiative aims to address persistent violations, providing both residents and visitors with a chance to resolve outstanding fines without incurring additional expenses.
The amnesty period will not be extended, as no announcements have been made regarding any changes to its duration.
