A tragic double shooting on the Bolivar Peninsula has left a community mourning the loss of a father and daughter. As authorities investigate what led to the violence, friends are remembering 24-year-old Wisdom Hall as a selfless, loving soul.

A community is in mourning following a tragic late-night shooting in Gilchrist that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, culminating in the suspect's suicide. In a sad incident reported by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Eric Dopp and his 24-year-old daughter, Wisdom Hall, were discovered fatally shot outside a residence on Kirkpatrick Road shortly before midnight on Friday.
Authorities report that 38-year-old Johnathan Findley, the suspect in question, escaped the scene in a white vehicle, prompting Chambers County deputies to engage in a high-speed pursuit along I-10 towards Beaumont. Findley was reportedly found barricaded inside his truck before taking his own life.
Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that is believed to have originated from a verbal dispute involving three individuals at the Gilchrist residence, where they were visiting a mutual acquaintance. A witness has come forward, detailing how the confrontation intensified before the suspect discharging a firearm. The reason for the ongoing dispute has yet to be determined.
Kyela Doucette experiences a profound personal loss. Doucette, a close friend of Hall for the past five years, characterized her as “protective” and brimming with compassion.
“Her smile and her heart—she was always willing to give anything,” Doucette remarked. “Her aspirations centered around engaging with children and creating a positive impact.”
As the investigation into the shooting continues, Doucette suggests that Hall or her father may have been attempting to protect each other in their last moments.
“I believe she was advocating for someone—most likely her father,” she stated. “Losing someone in this manner is profoundly difficult, yet I am aware that she had a significant purpose.”
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is actively probing the events surrounding the recent tragedy.
