Galveston LNG Bunker Port LLC (GLBP) has signed a supply agreement with Dunmura Ltd., a U.K.-based LNG bunkering specialist, to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) from GLBP’s proposed liquefaction facility in Texas City. The deal supports the growing demand for LNG as a marine fuel, with bunker deliveries expected to begin in 2027.

Galveston LNG Bunker Port LLC (GLBP) has made significant progress in creating the first dedicated LNG bunkering facility on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The company has revealed a sales and purchase agreement with Dunmura Ltd., a U.K.-based LNG bunkering specialist, to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its planned liquefaction project in the Texas City Industrial Complex near Galveston Bay. According to the agreement, GLBP will supply LNG to Dunmura on either a free-on-board (FOB) or delivered-ex-ship (DES) basis, allowing for flexibility in fuel delivery to customers.
This agreement marks a significant achievement for GLBP’s initiative, which addresses the increasing maritime need for LNG as a more environmentally friendly option than conventional marine fuels. Dunmura, a company dedicated to enhancing the utilization of LNG in shipping, views the agreement as a vital move to ensure supply for its customers.
“We are pleased to have finalized this agreement with the team at GLBP, the first we have announced since the establishment of Dunmura late last year,” stated Peter Mackey, CEO of Dunmura Ltd. “This agreement provides our customers access to the world's largest LNG production market.”
GLBP’s leadership highlighted the deal's importance for the energy sector in the Houston-Galveston region. Jonathan Cook, Director of GLBP and CEO of Pilot LNG, emphasized the company's prominent standing in the market.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with an industry veteran like Peter and his team,” Cook stated. “The signing of this agreement marks a significant milestone for our project and underscores the leadership that GLBP holds in the Houston-Galveston region.” We are eager to collaborate with Dunmura and its clients, with LNG bunker deliveries commencing as early as 2027.
This agreement signifies a significant step forward for LNG bunkering in Texas, highlighting the transition to low-emission fuel alternatives in the global shipping industry.
