UTMB Health has once again earned a spot on Forbes’ Best-In-State Employers list, reflecting high marks from employees and peers across Texas.
In a remarkable achievement, UTMB Health has once again secured its place among America’s Best-In-State Employers, as announced by Forbes on Wednesday. This marks the second consecutive year for this prestigious recognition.
In a notable achievement, UTMB Health has been recognized as one of the top employers in Texas for 2025, an honor presented in collaboration with Statista Inc. An independent survey of over 160,000 employees from companies with at least 500 workers forms the basis of the ranking. The compilation of the list took into account over 2 million individual evaluations.
The survey captured two distinct forms of feedback: direct evaluations, where employees assessed their own organizations and expressed their likelihood of recommending them to friends or family, and indirect evaluations, where the public rated employers within their industries based on reputation and peer experiences. We also asked participants to rate the organizations they had worked for in the past two years.
Dr. Jochen Reiser, president of UTMB and CEO of the UTMB Health System, shares the honor as one of Forbes’ America’s Best-In-State Employers for a second consecutive year. According to Reiser, this is a true testament to the people of UTMB Health. Reiser stated, “This recognition affirms what we know to be true—that our culture at UTMB creates an environment that fosters innovation, compassion, and the highest quality of care. It is our privilege to serve Texas, and we remain committed to building a workplace where our people can thrive and our patients can experience the very best outcomes.”
Companies recognized on the Forbes Best-In-State Employers list stand out for their commitment to fostering a workplace culture that is supportive, rewarding, and sustainable. UTMB Health's recognition highlights its longstanding legacy as a premier academic medical center while emphasizing its ongoing commitment to the well-being of both employees and patients.
Established in 1891 as Texas's inaugural academic health center, UTMB Health now extends its services to communities statewide through a network of hospitals, clinics, and research facilities, employing a vast workforce of health care professionals.
In a significant achievement, UTMB has earned recognition alongside a distinguished group of employers across the country, celebrated for its commitment to operational excellence while also emphasizing the importance of staff satisfaction and opportunities for professional development.

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) has received a $4 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to develop and implement new road safety initiatives. The funding is part of a broader effort to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries in the region, particularly among pedestrians and cyclists. The grant will support the creation of "Safety Action Plans" in collaboration with various local agencies and cities.
