Former Galveston City Council member John Paul Listowski holds a commanding lead in early voting results for mayor, according to the Galveston County Clerk’s Office. Final results are still pending as Election Day ballots are counted.

John Paul Listowski, a former city council member, is currently in the lead for the Galveston mayoral race, as indicated by the early voting results published on Saturday by the Galveston County Clerk’s Office.
Listowski captured 61% of the 4,244 early votes cast, placing him well ahead of his opponent, Marie Robb, who obtained 36.2%, while William Boike trailed with 2.8%.
“It’s thrilling,” Listowski remarked, highlighting the robust backing from the community following the initial results announcement.
The results are still pending as election officials diligently work through the ballots submitted on Election Day. Polling stations wrapped up operations at 7 p.m. on Saturday, but those who were in line at that hour were permitted to cast their ballots.
Listowski held three consecutive terms on the Galveston City Council from 2018 to 2024, prioritizing public safety, infrastructure enhancements, flood mitigation, and fiscal responsibility. The mayoral campaign has focused on fiscal responsibility, the enforcement of short-term rental regulations, and backing for small businesses.
The mayor of Galveston leads City Council meetings and is elected for two-year terms, with a limit of three consecutive terms permitted. Listowski has garnered an endorsement from the current mayor, Craig Brown, who is stepping down.
Robb, who previously held the position of District 6 council member and mayor pro tem, currently represents the city on the Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors. There has been no public comment from her regarding the early results so far.
Boike, a resident of Galveston for seven years, focused his campaign on reducing the cost of living and tackling the issue of increasing property taxes. There was no immediate response to requests for comment on Saturday night.
Early voting numbers indicate a high level of participation in the mayoral contest, but officials caution that the ultimate result will hinge on the outstanding ballots. In Galveston and various Texas municipalities, local elections are playing a crucial role in determining leadership choices that will impact development, budgeting, and long-term planning.
Final certified results are anticipated in the next few days as the counting and verification of all ballots continues.
