During a special meeting on December 23, the League City Council approved an amendment to the ordinance allowing the discharge of specific fireworks within city limits on two holidays: New Year’s Eve and Independence Day. This signifies a change in the city's approach to fireworks, aiming to balance celebration with the need for public safety.
According to the new regulations, only fireworks categorized as 1.4G, which are typically available at fireworks stands, are permitted. Fireworks can be set off from sunset on December 31 until 1:00 a.m. on January 1 and likewise from sunset on July 4 until 1:00 a.m. on July 5. Nonetheless, the sale and purchase of fireworks within city limits continue to be forbidden.
