A teenage couple was caught in Laredo, Texas, after a days-long search that took place in several states and included the murder of 61-year-old Tammy King in Bacliff. Authorities in Galveston County say that 17-year-old Tara King and her 18-year-old boyfriend Uriah Ureck dyed their hair different colors and tried to run away to Wyoming before being caught on Sunday.
On February 5, Tammy King was found shot to death in her home after her boyfriend asked for a safety check. Police found that her house had been broken into and that several guns were stolen from a safe. According to the police, Tara and Tammy fought Tara, skipping school not long before the death.
The court records show transactions from Tammy's Cash App account to Tara. Police think the teens tried to sell stolen guns to get money for their trip. While they were running away, they reportedly paid several friends to help them.
These suspects showed up at the Galveston County Jail on Monday night wearing striped jumpsuits. They were booked on charges of capital murder and debit card abuse. Before being arrested, Tara told a friend, "I'm not going to be able to talk to my family after this."
The police are still looking into the murder and trying to figure out the complete sequence of events that led up to it. People in Galveston are shocked by the case, which has brought up worries about crime and violence among teens in the area.
