An accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Port of Galveston between a small sailboat called the Knota Lady and the huge cruise ship Carnival Jubilee resulted in an unanticipated delay for the passengers who were on board the Carnival Jubilee.
According to reports, the sailboat experienced an engine failure, which caused it to become adrift in the current of the Galveston Ship Channel as it approached the 182,000-ton warship. During that time, the Jubilee was anchored close to Fisherman's Wharf, and individuals who saw the incident captured it on camera.
There were witnesses who stated that the mast of the cruise ship Knota Lady became caught in the mooring ropes that were used to secure the vessel, which resulted in the mast scraping against the hull. In order to liberate the sailboat, assistance was provided by a nearby ship belonging to the Galveston-Texas City Pilots fleet.
However, the Jubilee sustained a visible scrape, and the sailboat's skipper may face pricey insurance claims. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident. How the smaller boat came to be in such close proximity to the large cruise liner is a topic that has been raised as a result of the occurrence.
