Crumbl Cookie opens first Galveston shop

The first Crumbl Cookie site opened on Galveston Island and has been getting steady crowds and a very positive response from people in a city that is usually wary of national chains. The Utah-based dessert chain opened a new location on 61st Street on Friday.

The Galveston Chamber of Commerce hosted an event to officially open the new location. With this opening, Crumbl has entered a market where people often prefer independent restaurants. Galveston locals have pushed back against some newcomers. People had different feelings when Chipotle opened in September 2024. The city's Zoning Board of Adjustment is still working with Denny's to restart its restaurant on Seawall Boulevard after a fire in 2023. After more than a year of delays, El Tiempo Cantina on the Strand still has not opened. However, Crumbl appears to be making progress.

Priscilla Healy, her husband Jon, and their son Garrett live in the area and own the business. The family expressed to the Galveston County Daily News that they have always shared the dream of owning and running a business together. Early customers were quick to post online about their thoughts. After trying the cookies, the staff at the nearby Hospitality Health ER wrote on Facebook that they were "looking forward to trying many more sweet treats!"

By Monday afternoon, a steady stream of people had lined up to place orders after lunch.

The company Crumbl is based in Provo, Utah, and has grown rapidly since its founding in 2017. The chain has grown to have about 1,100 sites across North America. It is renowned for its large cookies, which are good for influencers, and its weekly-changing menu. The width of each cookie is about 4.5 inches, which is four times the size of a regular cookie. Many people became fans of the brand through social media marketing. Its big, fancy-topped desserts are often shown in videos that go viral.

There is no web location map for the Galveston store yet because it is so new, but you can already place orders online. It adds to the more than 100 Crumbl sites in Texas. There are already Crumbl stores in The Woodlands, Pasadena, Sugar Land, Cinco Ranch, Memorial, Spring, and The Heights in the Greater Houston area. The Galveston location will be the first on the island.
