A Conroe man already facing child exploitation charges in Montgomery County now faces new accusations in Galveston. Taylor Roy was arrested after a beachgoer spotted him allegedly photographing a child. Roy, who appeared in court this week, remains jailed as prosecutors seek to revoke his bond in multiple cases.
A Conroe man, who is already confronting several charges related to child exploitation, has been apprehended once again for allegedly attempting to target a child on a Galveston beach.
Taylor Roy appeared before a magistrate judge in Galveston this week, with a bond established at $75,000. He continues to be incarcerated as prosecutors in Galveston and Montgomery County take steps to revoke his release following the emergence of new allegations.
Authorities in Galveston report that the investigation commenced on April 19, following a bystander's observation of an individual, identified as Roy, allegedly capturing inappropriate images of a young child at the beach.
A child's family member approached Roy and recorded his vehicle's license plate before contacting law enforcement authorities. Authorities have swiftly identified Roy and connected him to similar incidents in Montgomery County. He and his wife, Tasha Roy, are currently facing a minimum of six felony charges associated with the photographing and alleged distribution of images involving young children.
“It is not a matter of chance,” stated Galveston Police Sgt. Derek Gaspard. "The approach involves precise targeting." Prosecutors have noted that Tasha Roy, although not charged in the Galveston case, was present during the beach incident.
This presence may violate existing bond conditions prohibiting both defendants from being near locations frequented by children. Prosecutors in Montgomery County have announced their intention to file documents to revoke the couple's bond.
Attorneys for the Roys have opted not to provide public commentary regarding the recent developments. The incident has ignited fresh worries regarding child safety in public areas and has led to increased examination of the monitoring practices for previous offenders released on bond.
