Travelers sailing from Galveston with Carnival Cruise Line will soon enjoy a brand-new tropical escape—Celebration Key in the Bahamas. Opening July 19, this exclusive private island features five themed "portals" designed for different types of travelers, from adventure seekers to those looking for ultimate relaxation.
Celebration Key, a brand-new private island spot in the Bahamas, will be opened by Carnival Cruise Line soon, and Galveston cruisers will be among the first to visit.
From July 19, Carnival ships leaving from the Port of Galveston, like the Carnival Dream and the Carnival Miracle, will include this special stop in their schedules. Also in 2026, Carnival Jubilee will start going to Celebration Key.
The new island retreat is on Grand Bahama and has five themed "portals" designed to meet the needs of different types of visitors. The striking 10-story Suncastle, the tallest building on the island, will greet guests. It is located in Paradise Plaza, the hub of many sites.
People who like to take risks can go to Starfish Lagoon, which has exciting racing waterslides. Also, Calypso Lagoon, which has a DJ island and a swim-up bar, is a great place for people who want to party. The Pearl Cove Beach Club has individual cabanas on the beach and an infinity pool for a more private experience. Lokono Cove is a Bahamian artist market where tourists can see crafts, art, and other items made by locals.
In making Celebration Key, Carnival has placed a lot of emphasis on being environmentally friendly. Essential infrastructure is being built, such as two big freshwater lagoons supported by an advanced desalination system that turns seawater into drinking water. Also, as part of its "Plant a Tree" program, the cruise line has replanted thousands of native trees on its land.
Carnival Corporation & plc CEO Josh Weinstein said, "This destination will serve as a tribute to the rich Bahamian culture and Grand Bahama's natural environment." You can book sailings to Celebration Key through 2027, leaving from 10 U.S. homeports, including Galveston.
