Carnival Cancels Five 2027 Carnival Breeze Sailings From Galveston for Maintenance

Carnival Cruise Line has announced the cancellation of five upcoming sailings of the Carnival Breeze from Galveston in 2027, a decision made to facilitate scheduled maintenance, the company confirmed on Monday.

Among those affected are a Jan. 11, 2027, departure and four consecutive voyages from March 5 to March 22, 2027. The Breeze generally embarks on Caribbean journeys that span from two to five days, as stated on the cruise line’s official website.

Carnival stated, “In managing a busy dry dock schedule, we occasionally need to modify our sailing timetable to facilitate planned maintenance.” Carnival then revealed that they informed affected guests and their travel advisors about this several weeks ago, offering assistance in exploring alternative sailing options.

According to Cruise Hive, an industry news outlet that initially reported the cancellations in July, passengers whose sailings were canceled were given the option to either rebook on a different cruise or obtain a full refund.

The Carnival Breeze, accommodating 3,690 passengers, boasts a 320-foot Twister Waterslide, a variety of family-friendly activities, and an array of dining choices like Guy’s Burger Joint, Cucina del Capitano, Bonsai Sushi, and BlueIguana Cantina. Guests aged 18 and over are invited to enjoy the tranquility of the Serenity Retreat and indulge in rejuvenating spa treatments. Visit Cloud 9 Spa for excellent massage services and enjoy vibrant evening entertainment at Playlist Productions and Liquid Nightclub.

The recent cancellations coincide with a pivotal growth phase for the Port of Galveston. Since the implementation of its Strategic Master Plan in 2019, the port has seen a remarkable increase in annual revenue, rising from $43.5 million to $79.3 million by 2024.

The inauguration of two new cruise terminals and the expansion of cargo facilities have bolstered this growth. We anticipate a significant increase in passenger volumes, from 3.7 million in 2025 to over 9 million by 2045.

Looking ahead, the vision encompasses the development of more cruise terminals, the construction of new parking garages, enhancements to roadways, and a rejuvenated waterfront that will showcase mixed-use spaces alongside the iconic Battleship Texas as a focal point.

On August 13, port officials are set to welcome the community to an open house at Cruise Terminal 28, where they aim to collect input on the revised master plan.
