Authorities execute 21 warrants in Galveston gambling probe

Authorities carried out 21 search warrants on Monday in connection with an investigation into alleged illegal gambling operations and associated financial activities in Galveston County, according to officials.

The Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force spearheaded a coordinated operation targeting several sites in the La Marque region suspected of operating illegal game rooms. Seven warrants were executed at gaming establishments, while an additional 12 targeted financial institutions associated with the alleged operation.

The investigation has moved beyond Galveston County, officials revealed, including a Sugar Land warehouse where gaming machines were stored and a residence linked to the owner of one of the enterprises under investigation.

Authorities have identified many places in La Marque and the adjoining city of Alvin, including Gold Chest, Pig Pen, TJ’s, Rusty’s, Purple Building, Double Diamond, and 24/7.

The operation is part of a broader campaign to dismantle organized criminal activity, including money-laundering charges related to illicit gaming, investigators said.

Officials have not provided information about any arrests, official charges, or how much cash and evidence were recovered in the operations.

The task force received backing from several agencies, including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, Galveston Police Department, League City Police Department, and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials have confirmed that the investigation is still active, with further details anticipated as evidence continues to be processed.
