Drivers heading to Galveston should be prepared for traffic changes on I-45. A project to widen the highway to eight lanes is underway, and it will involve some significant alterations to traffic flow.

Short-term main lane closures are expected from FM 519 to Tiki Drive. Additionally, a rerouting of traffic near La Marque and Texas City will be in place for an extended period.
